Biography

Biography

Dr. Roshan Babu Ojha is a distinguished soil scientist at the Nepal Agricultural Research Council, where he spearheads research on soil-related issues within the Nepalese agricultural system. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Soil Science at Purwanchal University, instructing both undergraduate and postgraduate students. His current research encompasses soil carbon dynamics, soil fertility management through a cropping system approach, soil pollution, soil biodiversity, and climate adaptation.

Dr. Ojha earned his PhD in 2022 from the University of New England, Armidale, Australia, where he investigated soil organic carbon changes in abandoned cropland and elucidated the mechanisms of carbon sequestration by pasture roots into various soil carbon pools. This research provided valuable insights into the relationship between soil carbon pools and soil fertility. With a robust track record of scientific solutions to soil-related issues, Dr. Ojha has contributed significantly to biological soil functions across Asia through various soil partnerships and joint projects. He has led international projects and is currently leading a South Asian project on climate change and soil. His extensive publication record, comprising over twenty-five peer-reviewed articles focused on soil fertility, soil carbon, and soil pollution, attests to his dedication to disseminating scientific findings to a broader audience. He has also edited and authored "The Soils of Nepal," a book published by Springer Nature as part of the World Soil Series.

Dr. Ojha is a regular reviewer for indexed journals and has served as an editor and handling editor for several journals, experiences that have honed his scientific writing skills and enhanced his ability to communicate complex ideas effectively. He thrives in collaborative environments and has demonstrated the capacity to work efficiently in multidisciplinary teams. As the National Focal Point for the Global Soil Partnership program of UNFAO from Nepal, he has engaged with various professional and civil societies. During his time in Australia, he contributed as an international representative to the student consultative committee, broadening his perspective and understanding of working with multicultural teams and the real-world application of scientific research.

Beyond his academic pursuits, Dr. Ojha enjoys excursions, exploring new cuisines, and connecting with nature.
